English Sparking Wine
I was very privileged to be asked to design this special project for Laithwaite’s Wine, having been involved from its conception to finally seeing the product realised some 5 years later, and with amazing success. In 2011 just under 8 acres in Windsor Great Park were planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes. The vines were harvested in October 2013 and a limited release of only 3000 bottles were launched a few months after The Queen’s 90th birthday in 2016. The wine quickly sold out and already there are pre-orders for the next vintage.
The packaging, a deep royal blue combined with a rich gold foil, reflects the regal heritage of this special wine. The Copper Horse, a famous equestrian statue depicting George III as an emperor in Windsor Great Park was selected as the iconic emblem to represent this English Quality Sparkling Wine.
A gift box displaying an original map of the Windsor Great Park drawn by John Vardy in 1750 completes this prestigious packaging.
Windsor Great Park Gin
Following on from the wonderful success of the Windsor Great Park Sparkling wine,
Laithwaites decided to launch a premium gin.
Inspiration was taken for its botanicals from Savill Gardens, next door to the vineyard – the only Royal Garden open to the puiblic all year round. This is a gin full of pungent flowers, seeds and
leaves of the English countryside, with adundant juniper, lemon verbena, thyme and elderflower. Keeping the Windsor Great Park brand identity and royal blue colours were a key requirement, which combined with the silver foil gives the label all the premiumness this gin deserves. It was
equally important to reflect the hand crafted quality of the gin and this was achieved by the use of high quality paper, decalled edging to the label and hand written text.
The floral decorative border gives a sense of royalty and reects the floral notes combined with the juniper berries.
